A Cape Cod Hotel with an Indoor Pool: Swimming Before and After Summer
Here's a secret our longtime guests know: some of the best weeks on Cape Cod come before July and after Labor Day. The roads are quieter, the beaches are wide open, rates are lower and Wellfleet feels like a small town again.
There's just one catch. The Atlantic takes its time warming up, and in late spring and early fall the water can be chilly enough to make even the bravest swimmers think twice. That's where we come in.
A heated pool, all season long
The Even'tide has one of the largest indoor heated pools on Cape Cod, and it's open every day we are, from our opening in May until we close in October. So you can walk the beach in the morning, when the ocean is beautiful to look at, and come back for a real swim in the afternoon.
Not just for kids
Families love the pool, but it's not only for them:
Couples escaping for a quiet spring or fall weekend
Grandparents who want an easy, warm swim without waves or undertow
Early risers who like a few laps before heading out for the day
Anyone who wants to warm up after a breezy walk at Marconi Beach
Why spring and fall are worth it
Easier to book. More choice of rooms and cottages, and better rates than peak summer.
Quieter beaches. Parking is easy, and you might have the dunes to yourself.
Perfect weather for exploring. Cool mornings are made for the Cape Cod Rail Trail or a fall walk through the woods.
Local events. From spring markets to fall events across the Outer Cape, the shoulder seasons have their own rhythm.
More to do on our seven acres
Between swims, there's mini golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, ping pong, billiards, basketball and the pirate ship playground, plus porches and wooded paths for doing nothing at all. Traveling with little ones? See our full guide to Wellfleet with kids.
